I was born in Sydney, Australia and from the age of six always had a graphite pencil in my hand. I pursued art through school that led to an exhibition of graphite drawings that toured New South Wales. Becoming disillusioned with my graphite art I dropped it completely. I become further artistically sidetracked when I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at Sydney University and a PhD at London University. After moving to the United States to further my scientific career, I rediscovered my passion for art in 2001; during a personal tragedy. Art once again was my friend. As I did not understand color, I started with acrylic paints and learnt about mixing color and played and experimented with color for five years. In 2006, I picked up a graphite pencil again and drawing was like returning to a comfortable old friend. More recently (2008), I discovered colored pencil and my lessons with acrylic paint have spilled into my colored pencil drawings. Science is reflected in my art. "To me art and science are one. I pursue my art the way I pursue a scientific experiment, with research and detailed knowledge of the subject."
