Macaws

I drew these Macaws from a beautiful photograph from the Reference Image Library on WetCanvas. The amazing thing about this drawing was that it was sold long before the drawing was finished.

I wanted the birds to appear high up in the canopy and thus the photo was modified to give this appearance.

23.5 X 25 on Stonehenge with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.

The WIP for the thread can be found here on WetCanvas.

  1. Hi Carol,

I am a fellow colored pencil artist, it is such a versatile and enjoyable medium. I love this macaw piece, it is both soft and vibrant at the same time. Congratulations on the sale! Looking forward to more of your work in the future. Cheers! Susan

  3. Hey Carol, I don't know how I missed this one.
But I did, and I am so happy (if not late) to finally see it.
Beautiful work, and as per your work excellently done.
Your creativity with coloured pencils just boggles the mind!
